If your teenager is starting their exam years, they will have online tuition tailored to their needs at their own pace of learning.
You can choose from weekly sessions to 'maths on tap' using our bite size approach.
This will provide your son or daughter with support in maths whenever they need it.
As a qualified and experienced teacher, Richard has tutored students preparing for Nat 5 Maths for over a decade with great results.
Secondary Maths
The leap from primary to high school can be quite overwhelming especially when the maths that came easy in primary school starts to be quite challenging.
We will help take the stress away from you and your child.
Your son or daughter's confidence will grow in building on what they already know.
They will develop their skills using the TeeJay text books that complement their school work. Your child will have their own copy to work with.
We will help them to get into the higher groups to be ready for Nat 5 maths.
Primary Maths
Some children don't get the time and attention in primary school to gain the skills and knowledge they need.
This can shake their confidence to the point that they think they can't be good at maths.
Working with Heidi, your child will gain experience and skills to build a strong foundation in the basics.
Heidi will prepare your son or daughter by helping them gain the confidence to take on new topics. She will use the TeeJay text books that are used in most Scottish schools. Your child will have a copy of the text book too.
She will help them get into and stay in the higher groups for maths.

What Is The Best For Your Child?
We understand that every child is different and has their own style of learning. The tuition your child would receive is not a 'one size fits all' system, but is tailored around the needs of your son or daughter.
As a husband and wife team, we play to your child's strengths to build their confidence and then help them fill the gaps in their knowledge and build the skills they need to tackle topics they find challenging in maths.
You will probably have found that a week in maths is a long time, particularly if your son or daughter is struggling with a topic right now and can't wait until their next tuition time. As our tuition is adaptable, we can accommodate your child's needs by offering not just a one hour per week tuition session of maths, but different options.
The whole idea is to give your child the help they need, when they need it.
Choose The Best Option For Your Child
Traditional Tuition
The traditional hour of tuition each week at one sitting is always an option if this fits better into your routine.
Two Halves
Two half hour sessions each week with exercises in between, so your child can put into practise what they learn after the first session safe in the knowledge that they will have support later on in the week at the next session, if they need help.
Bite Size
One short session at the start of the week and then have flexible times during rest of the week to meet up with either Richard or Heidi to help with any issues. Just text or email to arrange a time.
This option works particularly well for students preparing for exams.
The Advantages of Online Tuition
We previously ran Tuition Centres in Largs, Greenock, Helensburgh and Irvine, but Covid changed a lot of things including our approach to tuition.
Now, instead of having to share the tutor between four students, your child's tuition is now 1 to 1 with the tutor or in some cases 2 to 1 for students who prefer to share the experience.
Our online tuition allows us to be much more flexible to meet the needs of your child and gives you as parents and carers:
- the freedom to continue with your own life without having to transport your child to tuition centres.
- not having to find childcare or entertain your other children, whilst the tuition takes place.
- not being tied to appointment times without the opportunity to fit in those other important events that happen in life e.g. parent evenings, school shows, sporting events etc.
You even get to see and hear how your child is getting on in the comfort of your own home, if you wish.
Although our approach to maths is different to what your child has in school, we use the same TeeJay text books and follow the SAQ syllabus as most Scottish schools.
Our students receive their own copy of the text book for their level of learning to work alongside their tutor during their online tuition sessions.
Each month we will provide you with an update on your son or daughter's progress, so you will see how your child is benefitting from their tuition.

I have many years experience in helping young people to overcome their challenges, grow in confidence and succeed. This experience includes:
- teaching in secondary schools and organising additional support for pupils.
- being a Senior Lecturer in extended learning support in FE colleges.
- teaching teenagers with high level social and emotional challenges in special schools.
- arranging support for key skills for students in F.E. college.
- being a Home and Online Tutor for local councils.
- teaching students as a 'Super Tutor' for a national tutoring program.
- running a Kip McGrath Tuition Centre and being the Owner and Lead Tutor of an independent Tuition Centre.

“My son was sceptic at first as he wasn't quite sure what private tutoring would be like or if it would help him. We are now a few months down the line and he is receiving better marks on his maths assessments, feeling more confident and has built a good relationship with Heidi his tutor.
